About the Practitioner
Mary in Kauai, Hawaii
I completed my first 500 hours of training at Just For Your Health College of Massage in San Jose, California in January 1995. This early training was in Anatomy, Swedish, Sports Massage, Foot Reflexology, Deep Tissue Massage and Acupressure. Being a perpetual student of the body and having the desire to enhance both my own personal growth and what I can offer to my clients, continuing education has been ongoing and includes Arthrossage, Chi Gong, Tai Chi, Therapeutic Touch, Reiki, Hawaiian LomiLomi Massage in the tradition of "Auntie" Margaret Machado, Myoskeletal Alignment, Soft Tissue Release, massage cupping and more. I am currently studying for certification in the St. Johns method of Neuromuscular Therapy. As the years pass my evolution has turned toward a more therapy based, treatment oriented style of massage but always having the desire to be of service, I am happy providing whatever clients require. I spent 3 years working in a chiropractic setting in San Jose as well as my own private practice while living there. I have also paid my dues in a spa setting. I opened my own practice in Sacramento in 2004 and have steadily built a client base to which I owe a debt of gratitute for being my inspiration to grow, be flexible, problem solve and feel as though I am performing a worthwhile endeavor.
My personal interests include reading and learning about nutrition and the body, learning to prepare meals using fresh whole plant based foods avoiding animal and dairy (a serious stray from my traditional Mexican upbringing), watching things grow in my garden, interior decorating and diy projects, watching movies and traveling with my husband of 26 years and spending time with my 8 grandkids.
